The power of personal connect – A leadership differentiation

In one of the training programs, the trainer asked the participants, whom do you think as a leader or a great manager in your work place, then the participants started giving some responses,  the trainer made two columns on the board, the two columns were not titled  but he categorized the responses in to one of the two columns, after few minutes there were about 20 items in column 1 and 2 items in Column 2, the two items in column 2 were technology related items like manager/leader having sound technical knowledge and by this time you might have guessed what is in column 1, about 20 items are related to personal touch like encouraging people, standing with the team in difficult situations, not giving up etc.,

I think great leaders understand this fact, the people expectation is more on getting personally connected with their leaders/managers than technically connected!
